BESIDE MY BED
I have never been the biggest reader; my father has always said that, my sister was the reader and I was the creative soul. It was not because I didn´t like not having the pictures to go with the story - I have always had my head full of pictures when my dad read stories to us every evening - but I learned to read quite late (well I guess quite normal, but as my sister was (and still is) very clever, so she was ahead of me not only the 5 years of age, and the 6 years of school, but also a mile just for being her; so in my parents eyes quite late) as I could alway find a lot of other things that I thought could be must must more cool than learning the letters. But since I started working I have been reading more and more for every year, due to long flights, long waits in airports and lots of stays in hotels - and yes, after leaving boyfriende behind I have been chewing though even more pages, of some very good, some very boring and some very bad books. When it´s been a while since I have been in Denmark, the selection gets quite bad, as I inherit the books from the other expats out here - but fortunately my well read father is very good at sharing his favorite picks with me and when I was home for my birthday he gave me two very very good books - Irène Némirovsky´s "Fire in the blood" a little sad sad story about life in the French countryside and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie´s Purple Hibiscus; a story of a family falling apart from Nigeria. It´s two fantastic books I can warmly recommend ! besides those two I have being adding a little Chinese to the bowl with "Poorly made in China", an American, Paul Midler, living in China sharing his experiences producing here - super interesting when you are like me, have experienced basically everything he´s writing- if you aren´t producing here, skip that one.... but speaking of books - I will hid them and my bed now - so see you later alligators.
