APARTMENT VOLUME 1 / WHERE WE EAT ?

I am back - or at least I went to work today - and now it´s weekend - actually long weekend as we have Monday of here in China; and we call it May holiday (Ha ha !). I have no other plans than to fully recover before next week trip to India - but that´s also a bit of a task; as I found it to be a very long and hard day back at work today. Other things today had to offer; a royal Wedding, a killer lunch at my favorite Indian place (have to adjust my stomach to next week´s challenge) and then a skype chat with Boyfriende, where we, among other things were talking about our future shared flat. Mostly we talk about al the food we are going to cook together there - we both miss cooking together very much and actually also just Danish groceries from Netto and what we can do with them (for some reason my Thai food actually tasts much better in Europe, than Asia !?!). But until we are moving on to that chapter of our life, I am gathering lots of inspiration for the different corners of our little oasis; First chapter of volume 1 is "where we shall eat?"

STILL DOWN

- But I am working on it ... Bad TV series, coke and a killer burger menu from Grandma´s Kitchen should be the recipe - or at least so I hope. While waiting for better times, I am also checking destinations for Boyfriende and my holiday in two and a half week. Thailand, Vietnam or Philippines ? Well wanted to go to Tibet, but I am apparently the only one (?) so now it´s a beach holiday with sun, books and good food - but that´s also okay - I can´t wait to feel better, to see Boyfriende and to go on holiday.

3 DAYS IN INDIA

Next week I am going to India for the first time ever. It´s a little funny, that a girl like me never dropped by before - but well, working with menswear for almost 10 years, our road has never crossed professionally and for personal travel, there´s just been so many other choices before this one - but this time I am combining the two with a 3 day long (ha ha !) trip to Delhi - 2 working and 1 day of fun - but what to see ? yes, yes, the Taj Mahal ... but what else ? I need to do a little research this next week - but I would really love input !

LIFE IS GOOD !

I have just had the most perfect weekend. Wonderful weather; warm, sunny and not too dry - and done super nice things such as shopping, getting my nails done, bicycling around the city, 4 hours of pure workout and eating super nice food; I found a cheese that I simply love, love, love - so I have had cheese feast all weekend long mixed with wonderful salads and fruits - Simply perfect. This evening the party continues with this wonderful fruit salad - life is good; really good !

BOYFRIENDE´S FAVORITE

If he could choose, I would wear this dress every day. But he´s been waiting a long long time, since last I wore it was 1.5 year go, a my friends wedding. It´s a sequence 80´s 35 dollar dress from Beacon´s Closet in Williamsburg - and I must, looking though all photos, agree with him - It´s a pretty hot dress ... wish it wasn´t packed down in boxes in Denmark and that I could surprise him when he´s arriving in China May 10th - but it is, so I can´t ... damn !

BESIDE MY BED

I have never been the biggest reader; my father has always said that, my sister was the reader and I was the creative soul. It was not because I didn´t like not having the pictures to go with the story - I have always had my head full of pictures when my dad read stories to us every evening - but I learned to read quite late (well I guess quite normal, but as my sister was (and still is) very clever, so she was ahead of me not only the 5 years of age, and the 6 years of school, but also a mile just for being her; so in my parents eyes quite late) as I could alway find a lot of other things that I thought could be must must more cool than learning the letters. But since I started working I have been reading more and more for every year, due to long flights, long waits in airports and lots of stays in hotels - and yes, after leaving boyfriende behind I have been chewing though even more pages, of some very good, some very boring and some very bad books. When it´s been a while since I have been in Denmark, the selection gets quite bad, as I inherit the books from the other expats out here - but fortunately my well read father is very good at sharing his favorite picks with me and when I was home for my birthday he gave me two very very good books - Irène Némirovsky´s "Fire in the blood" a little sad sad story about life in the French countryside and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie´s Purple Hibiscus; a story of a family falling apart from Nigeria. It´s two fantastic books I can warmly recommend ! besides those two I have being adding a little Chinese to the bowl with "Poorly made in China", an American, Paul Midler, living in China sharing his experiences producing here - super interesting when you are like me, have experienced basically everything he´s writing- if you aren´t producing here, skip that one.... but speaking of books - I will hid them and my bed now - so see you later alligators.

THE BOOTSTRAP PROJECT

I found the coolest blog (or shop) today; The Bootstrap Project. I have seen several different "good will" project, and supported quite a few as well - but this one is different; and I like it. This is not aid, it´s trade - and when you buy something, 100% goes back to the community which made the craft. Go check out the web shop and support the good cost if you, like me, fall in love with something.
